LITWIN : important cost savings in design with the implementation of the CEA France software suite Plant-4D

The implementation and the use of Plant-4D within the Litwin design office was very quick. The operators were very impressed with the software's ease of use and the speed to generate 3D models. These models are immediately used by the commercial department as a pre-sale presentation. Today, the technical departments of Litwin can produce small "helicopter view" animations of the 3D model. After the signing of the contract, the 3D model is used for more detailed design. The project can be completed with the isometrics generating maximum time savings, as the vice-president, Eric Lecesne, explained.
"Litwin realises today a close link between P&IDs and the 3D models." Mr Lecesne states that the time reduction and the data transfer security is absolutely remarkable. "To conclude, we can say that the implementation of Plant-4D at Litwin is a total success, in the management department as well as in the technical departments."
Due to this, Litwin has planned to buy more licences in the short to medium term.

Litwin and SAMIR have signed an EPC turnkey contract for approximately 32 million for the supply of a co-generation electricity power station for the SAMIR refinery in Mohammedia, Morocco.

This is one example of the 3D model project done by the Litwin design office immediately after the installation of Plant-4D.

The design office of the Energy & Environment department worked until now with CAD tools like AutoCad 2D/3D and PDMS. For six months, Litwin has implemented the Plant-4D mechanical suite : P&ID module, 3D Models, Isometrics and 2D layouts generators, global project manager.
Eric Lecesne, Vice president and director of this department explained this choice : " Plant-4D helps us designing and nourishing PFDs and P&IDs. The P&IDs and the 3D model are stored in a same common SQL Server database and thanks to this architecture, our engineers can access to a real collaborative distant work nourishing and collecting information."

The time savings for delivering an "as built" 3D model are considerable. He concludes : "Our wish was to get a tool that could make us more reactive, to do engineering as fast as possible in order to use this saved time to equipment purchases and subcontracting orders. Getting the control of the software was very quick and today, thanks to Plant-4D, we can present very well documented 3D projects to our customers in a very short time."
