Kraftanlagen Heidelberg GmbH

Kraftanlagen Heidelberg GmbH designs and constructs machines for energy production. Their business activities include every step starting with strategy through to construction through to the use of the machines.
Falko Meier is a project engineer in the HR department. His field of activity covers project monitoring from design and construction, to the compilation of documents. He applied Plant-4D successful in the development of new projects.
In their research for a continuous facility design software, the company came across the Plant-4D software from CEA. Their choice considered the following issues:
- an ?open? system for the integration of new and pre-existing configuration of components
- automatic generation of 2D-views and isometrics.
- Compatibility with their statics program ROHR2
- User friendliness
- User-specific material extraction
- Occasional configuration changes made quickly and easily
Since the company had worked with 3D software before the switch to Plant-4D, the software appeared familiar so two training sessions on the PIPE and ISO modules were enough. Subsequently a quick startup was possible.
Throughout this project Plant-4D was shown to give a reduction in the effort of strategy, construction arrangements and documentation. Given that the project was recently introduced, a precise statement of time and cost savings could not be made. Estimates are in the order of 30%
